Session designed for a one hour tutorial during Ofsted week to a group of age 16+ learners but would be suitable for a wider age range.

Student activities throughout which are encouraged to help students consider the benefits of stress and how to use it to their advantage.
Particularly useful before exams.
Presentation Skills Workshop.
A two part workshop style lesson based on presentation skills which was delivered across two days. It uses a health context, however, this can be adapted to any other subject area.
The main lesson objectives are:
To recap prior learning.
To identify at least 3 poor presentation skills (starter activity).
To reflect on areas of self-improvement in relation to presentation skills (self-audit).
To utilize a strategy for planning an effective presentation.
To deliver a professional presentation which delivers a clear message.
The powerpoint contains student prompts for a carousel activity which will introduce them to the AMPM technique, and guidance on how to incorporate data into their presentations.
All resources have been included, however you will also need two pieces of flipchart paper to enable students to mindmap 'Medium' and 'Message'. There is also minimal cutting needed for the presenter card sort which has also been included. The worksheet entitled 'audience' has also been included which completes the carousel activity.
English, Maths, Employability and Equality & Diversity skills have been embedded throughout.
Job Searching
Lesson Objectives:
To identify the common places to look for jobs.
To identify the less common places to look for jobs.
To be able to provide their own evidence for jobsearch trackers.

This presentation features discussion of the types of joints, an investigation of their mechanisms and an activity on conditions which affect the joints.
Forensic Psychology
Whole lesson covering what forensic psychology is and treatment of criminals. Student activities contained.
Coping with Job Rejection
Whole Lesson covering the following via group and independent tasks:
To identify the common reasons why people might not be hired for the job.
To identify what people can do to counteract these reasons.
To identify the worst reasons why people are not hired for jobs.
Student documentation, a basic lesson plan and full PowerPoint have been included to provide you with everything you need to teach a lesson on job rejection.
Social Work-values and Purpose
This is a powerpoint with activities to enable students to explore the values and purpose of social work.
Students will produce an information sheet for a scenario, they will then examine the British Association of Social Work Ethics Committee.

This was originally delivered over 2, 3 hour lessons to Access to HE students.
There are activities including; types of abuse, accessible complaints procedures, serious case reviews and an activity where students have to design a new Health and Social Care Service compliant with safeguarding policy.
Please note that this lesson is aimed at adult learners who have some prior knowledge of safeguarding. Furthermore, learners are expected to work as independent learners in the same way that they will at university.
You will require computers for your students in order for them to do some independent research.

Introduction to Mental Health
This PowerPoint is full of student activities and was originally created for Access to Higher Education Learners to be delivered over two days.
This unit of work covers introduction to mental health and mental ill-health, defining mental health, diagnostic manuals and reliability of these, types of mental illness, data exploration activities and scenarios based on the current mental health crisis.
I was observed twice throughout this unit and received a grade 1. There are lots of links which can be pulled out for lesson planning in terms of English, Maths, Employability and Equality and Diversity.
Alternative Health Care
A teacher-led presentation on Alternative Health and Complementary Lesson which could be delivered prior to students embarking on independent activities (these would have to be created).
Originally aimed at Access to HE but could be tailored to suit a range of courses.
Students should be able to describe and evaluate various aspects of Alternative Health Care by the end of the session.
Chronic Disease and Psychology
A Full lesson with student activities surrounding psychology and how its theories can be used to explain/support Chronic Disease.
The lesson covers Pain Management/Gate Control Theory, Coping Strategies, Pain Perception, Wound Healing, Behaviour Change Models and Biofeedback.
It was originally written for Access to HE Health and Social Sciences (Level 3) students but can be tailored to fit other courses.
Impact of Multi-Disciplinary Approach and Professional Bodies
PowerPoint with some teacher prompts based on recent research and full of student activities. Students can be fairly self-sufficient during this session. This was originally written for Access to HE but will also be useful for A-Level.

Alcohol and Drug Awareness Tutorial
This Tutorial features an activity on the 'Say No To Drugs campaign', an embedded maths activity on what alcohol data is showing amongst other discussion and research style activities.
By the end of the session, students will be more knowledgeable on the dangers of alcohol and drugs.
Cell Division Part 3
This is the final part of a series of 3 lessons on Cell Division and Heredity. Students will explore Monohybrid and Dihybrid crosses, Explain the cause of variation and research an influential figure in genetics.
Sociology and the family
Activities designed to generate debate and discussion. Students will be looking at Pre-Industrial Family, Early Industrial Family, Symmetrical/Nuclear Family, Blended Family and the Homosexual Family. Students to consider how the concept of family has changed over the years.
Medicalisation
Whole lesson with activities covering medicalisation in terms of the 'Third Sex', 'Homosexuality' and 'Dying'.
Covers points such as cross-cultural perspectives and social control.
Originally produced for Access to Higher Education but could be adapted to meet some Sociology specifications for other courses.
